Frequently Asked Questions
- What is ElectionBuddy?
ElectionBuddy is a highly secure, third-party online election platform selected by the Chicago Tamil Sangam. We are utilizing this system for the Board Election to ensure a fair, transparent, and easily accessible voting process for all our members.
- How do I cast my vote?
Voting is a quick and straightforward process:
- Step 1: You will receive an official email invitation containing a unique access link.
- Step 2: Click the link to enter the secure ElectionBuddy portal.
- Step 3: Review the ballot, make your selections, and submit.
Important: Please do not forward your voting email. Your unique access key can only be used once.
- Is my vote completely anonymous?
Yes, absolutely. Anonymity is a core feature of ElectionBuddy. The system permanently separates voter identities from their voting choices. Once your vote is cast, it is encrypted, meaning no one—not even the organization’s administration or current board members—can link your identity to your specific ballot selections.
- How secure is the voting platform?
ElectionBuddy utilizes 256-bit encryption to protect all data, matching the security standards used by major financial institutions. Furthermore, the one-time access key prevents duplicate voting. If a voter attempts to reuse their link, the system will block the action, guaranteeing that each eligible member casts exactly one vote.
- Will I receive an acknowledgment?
Yes, you will receive an acknowledgment email after successfully casting your vote. To maintain your privacy, this confirmation will not include your specific ballot selections.
- Can anyone see who I voted for?
No. The election is strictly configured for anonymous voting. No one will be able to see your individual selections.
- I did not receive an email. What should I do next?
Please check your “Spam,” “Promotions,” or “Trash” folders, as some email clients may automatically filter the ballot. Neither the Chicago Tamil Sangam nor ElectionBuddy can alter your email provider’s filtering behavior. If you are still unable to locate the email, please contact the Election Committee for assistance.
- Can I update my email address and have the ballot sent to the new one?
The Chicago Tamil Sangam board has provided a list of verified email addresses for this election. Once the election begins, the Election Committee does not intend to change the provided email addresses. Please ensure your current inbox is active and able to receive emails.
If you have lost access to your email account and cannot retrieve it, please contact the Election Committee with your details. The committee will determine the next course of action in consultation with the board and the candidates.
